Before this course, I had never heard of Evernote. I was skeptical of whether or not I’d actually get any use out of it or whether or not it would be helpful in organizing my thoughts and research. I found it very useful in organizing my summaries for the various books we read, as well as synthesizing any research I had done. I really enjoyed the Webclipper feature as I was able to capture screenshots of specific information I wanted to save. In the end, I’m glad I was introduced to this tool for future use in my education.
I mostly used Evernote to organize my summaries for the books we read in class. I kept them all in my EDC 102H notebook, and divided them by the sections of the book we read each day. I also created the Table of Contents page where I synthesized all my summaries and created links for each individual summary page. I believe this will beneficial when I need to take a look back at all of my summaries to prepare for the final. The Webclipper also served its purpose when I only wanted to capture portions of a text for research. I liked being able to select certain sections to screenshot. I think that Evernote will help me in future courses as well. When I take another EDC course in the future, I’ll be able to look back at my notes from this course. I could use them as references and add to my future knowledge in new courses. It’s nice to know that all of my notes are organized in one place for future use. I found that I can also use Evernote to save links or articles that I’d like to explore more at a later date. I created a notebook for another class where I began compiling research for a paper.
While I used Evernote more at the beginning of the semester than I did towards the end, I’m thankful to have been introduced to it. I think it’s a very helpful resource for students to organize and compile their thoughts in one spot. I like the option to be able to share notebooks as well to view other students’ thoughts and research. After this course, I now feel confident using Evernote as a learning tool. I look forward to discovering more of its useful features in the future.
